About Me

My photo
I am a wife to an awesome husband and a mom to 2 cute kids, 3 & 1. I love finding creative things to try, both with my 3 year old and on my own. It's hard to find time to be crafty between wife and mother duties, but when I find the time... it's a craftiful life! I hope some of the projects I write about will inspire you to have a craftiful life too!

A Changeable Wall Hanging

I'm back to blogland.  It's been a while, but I'm finally home from the holidays and have finally found some time to sit down and write this long awaited post.  Early in November I started a small project that ended up getting bigger and bigger!  Well, it's finally ended and I can now show you all!  (I know the anticipation is killing you!)

The idea came when I was browsing through some blogs and found this neat decor idea.  I thought it would be a great gift for Christmas and soon decided it would be perfect for my mom and mom-in-law.  The idea came from Dittle Dattle's Family Wall Hanging

I started off with just the word family, but I started thinking and came up with an even better idea...  "What if I made a few words that could be changed through-out the year?!"  SO that is how my little project expanded into a bigger one. In the end I made two sets of three words and here they are:

I am so glad I finally got to share this with you!  Hope everyone had a great Christmas and I wish all the best to you in the New Year!

It's Christmas Time

So, it's been a while since I've updated you all on my projects... and there's good reason.  No.. it's not because I haven't been doing anything... or because I've been procrastinating... it's because I can't tell you!  So, stay tuned, I will have to update you on those in the New Year.

I have, however, had some time to decorate a little around the house.  We are gone for most of December, so I didn't go crazy with the decorating, but I wanted to see some of my favorites around the house, even if it is only for a few weeks.  With no tree up, I decided I still liked looking at my ornaments, so I put them in a big glass vase, put it on the table and now it's a beautiful center piece!

I have a picture frame hanging in the kitchen all year round that I wanted to make a little christmasy.  I took some cute Christmas scrapbook paper and cut it to fit the frames.  Really easy and made the picture frame feel like part of the Christmas decor.

The last project I want to share with you is another Christmas filler for a picture frame.  My inspiration came from http://www.wordle.net/create  I took Bible verses from Luke 2 (the Christmas Story) and put them into wordle.  (a website that basically makes a collage of the words you type into the website.)  I couldn't quite figure out how to print the picture big enough for my picture frame so I recreated it using my Cricut, glue and some paper.  I should warn you though, if you do not like tedious work, then this is not for you.  (yes, I am crazy and acutally glued each letter!)

I think it turned out quite nicely and is a great reminder of the true reason for the season.

When you can't find it... make it!

I've always been one to just buy something instead of making it... mostly because I know I'll never end up getting around to making it.  Lately, however, I've become inspired and have decided that when I can't find exactly what I'm looking for... I should just make it!  It's amazing what a sense of accomplishment it gives you! :)

Wall art is especially hard for me to find... for some reason... maybe I'm just too picky???  Anyway, since I have a handy dandy Cricut, I've decided to put it to work and create a few wall art pieces that are pretty quick and easy.

One picture was inspired by House By Numbers canvas art.  I liked the canvas art idea and verse so I took the idea and changed it up a bit... of course the Cricut was my best friend on this one.

Another quick project I created was for my bathroom.  I needed some art that was black, white, red and grey and moisture proof... pretty hard to find!  I had a black clear picture frame already, so I just cut out some circles and voila... new bathroom art!

The Finished Product

My inspiration came from the shower curtain
